Description

The Pegasus GC-HRT+ 4D combines the highest-performance GC×GC and Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (TOFMS) technologies with High Resolution Deconvolution (HRD). Designed for the analysis of the most complex samples, the system enables users to find more analytes than ever before and confidently identify unknown components.
The instrument is powered by ChromaTOF® software, specifically designed for HRT+ instrumentation and GC×GC applications. The software provides advanced qualitative and quantitative capabilities in a single, user-friendly data system.
The Pegasus GC-HRT+ 4D delivers high-resolution mass spectral data using comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC). In this process, compounds eluting from the first chromatographic column are trapped and systematically injected into a second column to achieve a second chromatographic separation. This second separation is completed within seconds, producing very narrow chromatographic peaks of less than 200 milliseconds.
To accurately define a two-dimensional chromatographic peak, acquisition rates of at least 100 spectra per second are required. The Pegasus GC-HRT+ 4D supports acquisition rates of up to 200 spectra per second, providing sufficient data density for spectral deconvolution of chromatographic peaks. Combined, LECO’s GC×GC chromatography and the Pegasus GC-HRT+ 4D provide a solution for complex sample characterization.

Working Principle
The Pegasus GC-HRT+ 4D utilizes comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC) to increase chromatographic peak capacity. Compounds eluting from the first chromatographic column are trapped and systematically injected into a second chromatographic column, where a second separation is performed.
The second chromatographic separation is completed within seconds, producing narrow chromatographic peaks that require high-speed spectral acquisition for accurate characterization. With acquisition rates of up to 200 spectra per second, the instrument provides sufficient data density for spectral deconvolution of chromatographic peaks.
